What it is

The scene dates the first Chinese Metin2 private server to 7/6/2008. 风云倚天 is documented as operating from 14/8/2005, and paid: three years earlier. The two ip_chn.es files list the game server IPs in plain text (219.153.34.73, 60.208.77.183, 61.236.229.238).

The most valuable piece sits inside pkdu.zip: client_string.txt from 27/11/2005 is the Korean → Chinese localization table for the maps, with the English column empty. They were translating from the original Korean client, not from a Western intermediary. Together with a 2007 reading by a Japanese player (the JP client is the retouched Chinese one), the chain reads in one direction only: Korea → China → everywhere else.

The lead came from a Korean blog from 20/11/2005 that taught readers to point the official Korean client at the Chinese server by swapping ip_kor.es and ip_chn.es: the Korean word for this scene is «중국메틴», the Chinese Metin. Seven rounds of research had searched for it with the wrong word («사설서버») and found only silence.
