This is not a client rebuilt to look old: it is the Chinese client of October 2004 itself, as it was distributed that autumn.

The original is made of 228 files and all 228 are in the package. We compared them one by one with our copy of the original: every file is identical, byte for byte. That covers the game program, its libraries and every pack of maps, models, textures, sounds and interface.

Nothing has been translated, patched, recompiled or repacked. The game is in Simplified Chinese, as it was. Even the old updater of 2004 is still in its place, untouched.

To keep it that way we did the work on the other side. We did not change the client to make it talk to a server of today: we rebuilt the Hard server so that it speaks the language the 2004 client expects.

We add four small files of ours and nothing else: the address of our server, the game settings, the launcher Prime-Yitian2.exe and a short README. They sit next to the original files and replace none of them.

So what you play in 2026 is what a player in China had on screen in 2004: the same graphics, the same interface, the same sounds, the same limits. What Metin2 gained in later years is simply not there yet.

The SHA-256 of the zip is published above, so anyone can check that their copy is exactly this one.
